Open WOC (or Othellohraní) 2018
Open WOC (or Othellohraní) is a weekend full of Othello. It is held as a supplementary program to the World Othello Championship (woc2018.worldothello.org)
While the World Othello Championship or WOC is designed for high-class Othello competition, the event Open WOC is meant for wide public, to let you meet this simple yet deep game.
What is Othello
A game for 2 players with very simple rules. You will learn it in a minute but it will take all your lifetime to master its strategy. The basic principle is in flipping black-white discs. Each player has one colour and tries to get more discs his side up at the end of the game. You flip discs on your side when you surround them from two opposing sides.
What to expect on Open WOC (or Othellohraní)
This event, held during the international games festival Deskohraní, will not only teach you the rules of Othello. An entire list of events is prepared, for both beginners and more experienced players.

- 9:00 - 12:00 Open Blitz WOC - for players and beginners alike. Rules knowledge is required.
- 13:00 - 14:30 CZE vs. JAP – Team of 3 players from each country. Come support us!
- 14:00 - 17:30 Open WOC Pairs – pair tournament for more experienced Othello players
- 18:00 - 20:00 Disc flipping WOC – this event is interesting not only for participants but also fans! Come play or at least watch.
- 19:30 - 20:30 People vs. Master – Simultaneous game for 8 people and the Master! Come and match his powers or come and watch.

- 13:00 - 20:00 Othello Special Section – Othello in different ways for players and beginners alike:
- 9:00 - 17:00 Disc flipping practice – designed for broad public. The best flipper of morning and afternoon qualifies for the Disc flipping WOC FOR FREE!
- 14:30 - 17:00 Exercise with Othello – Five-minute games on a garden 3x3m board!

- 14:00 - 17:30 Open „Family“ pairs – designed for couples from one family or just close friends. Ideally more experienced player with a beginner.
